I am surrounded by great family and wonderful friends and I spend my days doing my dream job: being the art teacher for a school full of smiling (and messy) elementary students. I try to teach them life’s lessons through the fabulously versatile vehicle of all things visual. I recently completed my master's degree in art education and if feels great to check that off my life's list.
I love living life a million miles a minute, though the activities vary. I’m an avid reader of just about everything… though I specialize in children’s books and historical fiction. I LOVE traveling anywhere that will give me a new experience and have visited every continental state (minus Oregon) and eleven different countries. I greatly enjoy musical theater and have to bite my tongue to keep from singing along (though in my classroom I gladly jump on top of tables and perform for my students… they are always a supportive audience). MAKING art is also a joy of mine: commissioned portraits, murals, graphic design work (most notably for my family’s ice cream and chocolate business), and photography. My most time consuming "art project" has become fixing up my house... painting, installing new baseboards, refinishing stairs... let's just say I'm on a first name basis with half the employees at Home Depot (the other half I just wave to). Good food makes every day better… especially ice cream.
The most important things on earth to me are family and the gospel and I feel that the most successful life is one focused and centered on those things. My relationships with God and my family are my most prized possessions and the bedrock of my life and the motivation for all my thoughts and actions. I love building memories with my family through our many vacations together and serving as an ordinance worker in the Washington D.C. temple… my other “dream job.”
