Yeah LDS Singles! This is fun, eh? ha ha ha... "I have a glow you cannot see... A heart as warm as bathwater!" Those are some words spoken by my favorite superhero. He's big, he's blue, he's nigh invulnerable.
Okay, so I drive a minivan... That's right... You heard me correctly, a minivan. (Wait, can you actually hear me? 'Cause that's kind of crazy.) Although there are often people riding in my van it is usually full of drums and other percussion stuff. They really are quite handy, although not that visually appealing. More about those later. Ha ha ha...
I teach percussion and music courses at a university in Northern Utah. I love music and spend a lot of my time teaching and playing music. When I'm not doing that, I love playing hacky-sack, hiking, camping, throwing a Frisbee or a baseball around, and swimming. Really I'm down for just about any sport, or outdoor/indoor activity, though I may not be good at it. I'll put in a good effort and perhaps even surprise you a bit.
I love to read whenever I get time which often happens during the second act of an opera or musical I'm playing in. I'm just staving off dementia by reading and counting rests at the same time. Some people prefer puzzles. Not me - give me a book and some music to play simultaneously. No but seriously, I read all kinds of books. I love the classics, or at least most of them I've gotten to so far. I tend to lean toward fiction but I've read tons of different stuff. I've enjoyed biographies and auto-biographies. I teach music so I'm always looking for good books to share with students in that field. I dabble into self-help books because they can be fun and inspiring at times. Fantasy and Sci-fi books are some of my favorites. I've just re-discovered the public library and it is AWESOME! And then there's the scriptures of course. The most awesome books ever.
I don't watch TV much but I can get hooked watching a TV show on netflix if I'm not careful. I do, however, love movies. I am certain that I watch too many of them. It's good that I'm busy so I don't waste too much time watching them but man do I love a great flick. I'm down for just about any movie, any genre, as long as it's well-made (and sometimes even if it's not). Let me just say, Ghostbusters is back in theaters. How cool is that?
I love to talk and to listen. In my mind I think I'm a great listener but perhaps I'm not as good at it as I think. I'll let you decide.
I'm a firm believer that things work out, even though they don't always go according to our plans (they rarely go according to my plans, ha ha ha...). The good guy (or girl) actually does win in the end. Heavenly Father has a plan for us and He knows the deepest desires of our hearts. If they are good desires He will work continually to help us achieve them. Even if we forget at times what we were aiming for, He won't. I've experienced that many times in my life.
I suppose you might say that I'm an unabashed optimist. Doesn't sound too bad to me. I'll accept that title. I do expect things to go a-muck in life but, I feel like we have a lot of control over how we let that affect us. I think that if you hope for the best, and prepare for the worst, you'll find yourself in a position to enjoy the rest. But sometimes things are tough. Super tough. I've experienced that, too.
Most important to me are my God and my family, and my friends. My close friends are like family to me, so they often get lumped in there together. I'm loyal and would go through the fire for a person I love. Heck!, I'd hang out in that fire if I had to... and I hate being burned. Definitely ranks high up there in my least favorite forms of torture.
If you're still here than I will let you know the battle-cry of a superhero who is nigh-invulnerable. "Spoon!" Ha ha ha... Message me, if you want to, yo!
