Hi Singles, my name is Omar. I study advertising at BYU and I'm working with a non-profit org to encourage people to become comfortable with who they are.
My friends consider me a deeply caring person who they can always trust. I'm often quiet when you first meet me. I'm definitely the type who listens and observes when in crowds.
But, I also love to perform. I'm a semi-professional jazz singer and saxophonist. I've been known to tell jokes in between sets on stage too.
Humor is extremely important to me. I really only like to be serious when I have to. My sense of humor could range from deadpan to loud parody singing, so I totally love to be light-hearted and have fun.
I'm from California— love the beach and hole in the wall restaurants. I try to visit my family as much as possible. I'll be headed back to So Cal for the weekend to hit up some of the favorite spots with the fam and I'm really looking forward to it!
I'm not a big fan of small talk. I love to get to know people for who they really are– find out what they truly want in life and see what place I can have in that. I love to talk about people and ideas. Especially practical application of Church doctrine.
I'm a mix of old fashioned and a millennial. I like hand written cards or letters, and I believe at the very least dates should be petitioned with a phone call. I hold open doors, and like to show others I appreciate them. I'm not a die hard proponent of the whole gender role thing, but I do believe it's my responsibility to provide for my family. I really like to plan dates or even something with my close friends.
That said, I'm totally down to be asked out by girls. I'd hate to miss out on the opportunity to get to know someone because I didn't pick up on the "ask me out" signal.
I'm kind of a nerd. Foreign films are a favorite pastime. I also enjoy well-written poetry and plays. I frequently attend rock concerts (MUSE, Neon Trees), singer-song writer sets (Ingrid Michaelson, John Allred) and I've been trying to find people to go to the symphony with.
I'm hoping one day to live abroad, most likely in the UK. I'm really looking forward to see the success of my startups and career. But that success will mean all the more being able to share it with someone.
I don't tend to rush into anything as I'm really all about getting to know someone and connecting with them. I'm really looking for someone with depth who loves the Lord, who I can enjoy spending time with and I think most importantly who I'm able to make decisions with. Life is full of choices– some small, some with eternal consequences. I don't need to find someone I always agree with, but someone who can work through the tough decisions of life in a respectful manner.
Wherever you are, I hope you're having a good day and thank you for reading.
