Hello good women of ldssingles. :)
A little about me:
I have this philosophy for life which I call "hammer and pamper". I love to go out on outdoorsy excursions and "hammer" myself., i.e., backpack for miles or climb to the top of a high peak...then return to civilization for some well-deserved "pamper" time. Said pampering can be as simple as taking off a heavy pack at the end of the trail, or riding in a car with the A/C on. If you bump it up to an ice-cold Diet Mtn Dew and a hot shower, the pamper to hammer contrast can be downright euphoric. :)
The top of Mount Timpanogos is a favorite hiking destination, cliche as that may sound. Zion National Park is another favorite...there's just something unmatched about being on a 100+ foot free-hanging rappel surrounded by stunning Zion scenery. I also enjoy whitewater rafting, skiing, and mtn. biking.
I love sports. I grew up playing basketball...hours and hours of pickup games and "speed" in the backyard with neighbor kids, church ball (minimal swearing), etc. These days, however, I play more volleyball than anything. City leagues, UOVA grass tourneys, even some wallyball (fun!). I also enjoy racquetball, golf (not good), ultimate frisbee...as well as watching a handful of sports, mostly football and basketball. Big BYU and Utah Jazz fan...as painful as fandom of those teams can be sometimes. :)
I have several less-active interests as well. I fancy myself a bit of an amateur photographer...love to take pics of scenic places I visit. I like music, love to sing and play the piano (not great at either). I played in the band in high school (alto saxophone), but it wasn't until I joined the MTC choir that I realized how much I enjoyed singing, too. I like movies. I like food. I love me a nice Sunday afternoon nap. Admitting that you watch TV seems to be a bit of a online profile faux pas, but I do...I watch some shows. Some favorites include Breaking Bad (sad it's over), Nova and Jeopardy (have been trying to get on the show for a few years now). I may have even been known to catch an episode of American Idol on occasion. (cringe). :) Lastly, I enjoy traveling. I like to think I've been a place or two, but so many more I'd love to visit. Some favorites places have been Switzerland, and Banff NP in Alberta.
I have been blessed to live close to family and enjoy spending time with them. My parents are some of my best friends, and I quite often find myself doing battle with the nieces and nephs. Much tossing, twirling, and liberal candy dispersal ensures I remain favorite uncle.
While I have been pretty contented in life to this point (to say I've been asked "Why aren't you married?" a few times would be an understatement), I can't help but feel there is something missing...and so have yet to throw in the towel. She's out there! ;)
Wow, this greeting turned out to be kind of long...but in the interest of completeness...it should be noted that I love puppies and kissing in the rain. Long walks on the beach are the WORST, however. J/k.
