Hi! My name is Lia. I'm no longer new to the area, but would love to meet some new people.
I'm a weird mix of country and city: I'm just as happy in a ball gown as I am dirty to the bone for some extreme camping. I like to hike, shoot, camp, swim, and go on adventures, as well as attend theatre, host dinner parties, and go to book club. My mom raises chickens and I know how to milk a cow, but I'll correct your grammar and I know which fork is for what.
I like most forms of music - new age, classical, country, pop, and classic rock (not rap). I play a little piano, played the cello in high school, and sing to my car radio...I'm not half bad.
I have a mini and not-so-secret love affair with the African continent. I love travel (carry-ons only), foreign films, and board/card games. I'm into games being for fun, not winning. Unless you're talking about speed card games. That's another matter entirely.
I don't watch much TV, I don't have a "show" I can't miss, but I do enjoy cuddling on the couch and will watch just about any movie or show to take advantage of that. That being said, sports are a thing I will watch live, if necessary, but I'll have to really like you to sit in front of a TV for that. (That's why we have girls' nights and boys' nights. Right?)
I am half Italian and love to cook and bake. I speak passable Italian - better French - and would love to practice either.
My birthday is Valentine's Day (I'm so sweet), and since it often gets overlooked, I'm prone to throwing myself great parties!
I spent two months living in Namibia, Africa with a tribe of Himba and would love to go back someday. I fulfilled a childhood dream when I went to Egypt in 2007. Amazing.
I'm an optimist, albeit pragmatic. I have faith that it will all be OK - whether I understand it at the time or not. Big picture. (Read chapter 3 of Daniel, and the talk "But if Not," by Dennis E. Simmons. Favorite.) I'm the quintessential responsible friend. If you're my friend, you're my family. And being Italian, I don't take family lightly.
I graduated from BYU in '03 with an English degree; I've worked in mental health and college administration, and now get to stay home with my girls, volunteer, and take care of my grandmother.
I go to church regularly and it is important to me.
I am completely satisfied and happy with my life, but finding a new friend or two or dating would be fun. I would like to find a partner to share my wonderful life with, but I'm happy on my own, as well.
Like me? Smile in your pictures. Smile in your life. Cook (well) for me. Be content already. Don't need me, want me. Know how to fix things (now that's sexy). That's a good start.
