My favorite saying:
“A little explained,
A little endured,
A little passed over,
And the quarrel is cured.”
I was going to just list a bunch of stuff about myself on here. And maybe that's the point. But I decided that instead I'm going to tell you about some people that are important to me because I think who I spend time with says more about me than anything.
First, you need to know that my heart is already taken by my 1-year old niece. But if you think there's a chance you're cuter than she is, then read on.
My family is everything to me. My mom is my biggest fan and support in everything. I think George Washington was talking about my mom when he said, "My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother."
My Dad is my best fishing and hiking buddy. We do everything together. We spent a whole summer a couple years ago just hiking and fishing, and it was the best summer of my life.
My sister is an inspiration to me. She served a courageous mission, married in the temple, and has two kids who are my best friends ever. Jacob (3) and Rosalie (1). I get along better with them than people my own age.
My brother is the nicest person on planet earth. He served is his mission in Texas, which made me so proud. He is everybody's friend, but he still makes time for me, which means a lot. He just got married to an awesome girl in the temple and is actively pursuing his education.
My grandparents are a foundation to my family. My Grandma Wilcock is the sweetest, most guileless lady I've ever met. Her husband died about 10 years ago, but nobody every worked harder or cared more about others than Grandpa Wilcock. My mom's parents are always there for their family. My Grandpa still goes to the farmer's market to buy produce for the family, and my Grandma knits us all caps and mitts for winter.
I also have to mention dear old Sister Wright and her widowed daughter Sister Webber. They are true friends to me. Sister Wright just passed 90 and is going strong! I used to mow her lawn as a Deacon, and then had the incredible honor to home each her and her daughter. Nobody rooted for me on my mission more than she or is more proud of my accomplishments. She was a champion horse rider in her heyday. I believe she still would be if anyone would let her. And her daughter has stayed with her for years to take care of her. If anyone has Christlike charity, it is her.
I could list so many if I had the room or thought anyone would read more. But last here and first in life are two men who have done more for me than anyone else. First is the Prophet Joseph. I love that man and try to honor his testimony. I know he was a prophet a good and honest man. Moroni said his name would be had for good and evil among all nations. I will go to my grave defending his good name. And second is my Savior, Jesus Christ. I won't get more personal than to say I know He lives and atoned for all of us. The best thing in life is helping others see that.
