While I originally joined this because my dad (who would like a couple more grandchildren before he kicks off) talked me into it, I will try to keep him from logging on with my password and sending notes to guys in my name. It's been a while since I've visited, and it occurred to me that my photo and greeting are out of date, so I figured I might as well make a couple of alterations.
I graduated from BYU years ago (you'll have to guess how many) with a degree in journalism, then joined Teach for America and taught third graders in the Mississippi Delta for two years. Within my first day of teaching I had one student throw up, another wet his pants, and two more go after each other during story time while the rest of the class jumped up on their desks chanting "Fight!". After that auspicious beginning, I went on to fall in love with the field and my students, and after my two year commitment I headed to the University of Denver where I earned my master's degree in curriculum and instruction, with a dual emphasis in urban education and gifted education.
I now teach gifted kids in Palo Alto. I love to read, act, dance, sing, ice skate and roller blade. I am a writer in my spare time - hopefully a published one before too much longer. I can finally say that I am a "professional actress," as I am getting paid a whopping fifty cents an hour (when you work out all the rehearsal time + performance time) for a summer production.
I've decided to give subscribing a shot. Hope to hear from you!
