My name is Josh and I thought I'd finally give this whole thing a try. I just recently returned from a deployment with the army to Afghanistan, and now am looking to meet someone and see what this whole online thing is all about!
I am originally from Carson City, NV, and joined the army at 18, fresh out of high school. I was given the opportunity to take a break for a couple of years to serve a mission, and was called to the Mexico Hermosillo Mission, amongst the most amazing people in the world. Elder Holland spoke at the MTC when I was there, and said that his mission meant everything to him. At the time I didn't understand what he meant, but I certainly do now. My mission meant EVERYTHING to me. I am eternally grateful to my loving Heavenly Father for the blessings and experiences that He gave to me while in Mexico. I have since served in various capacities as ward mission leader, scout leader, counselor in the young mens' presidency, and sunday school teacher. On the professional side, I was a reconnaissance scout in the army for eight years before being accepted to flight school, where I was trained as a blackhawk MEDEVAC pilot. That is what I was doing over in Afghanistan, providing "care flight" type coverage for our soldiers who are fighting over there. Now that I am home, I have just decided to return to school after an extended break, and am studying electrical engineering, and really enjoying being the "old man" in class! haha I love my country, I love the Church, I love the Lord, and the opportunities that He has given me in my life to learn and grow and have the family and friends that I have.
Other than all that, I just like to have fun. I am an avid snowboarder, and can't wait to get home in February and hit the mountain! I grew up 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe, one of the most beautiful places in the world, I love being outside, involved in any activity that gets your heart pumping and the adrenaline flowing, whether backpacking, cliff jumping, four wheeling or skydiving. I would consider myself a music fanatic, and always have to have some tunes in the background.
No offense to anyone on here, but I have tried the whole long distance thing, and it is not something that I am interested in. If you aren't from the Utah-Nevada area, I probably won't respond.
