I'm unduly fond of spiral bound notebooks. This is important to me. Spiral bound notebooks lay flat when you are open to a certain page, which makes them not only more convenient, but more space efficient than three ring binders.
My current calling is youth Sunday school teacher. It's my first time working with youth and its been awesome. They are smart and, most importantly, the want to learn. One thing that has worked really well is asking them what they want to learn and preparing a lesson once a month outside the standard curriculum for them. It's been interesting to see the topics they want to know more about. I think being a Sunday school teacher is the best calling ever. This is my fourth time around with this one, but I don't mind at all. I would do it forever.
A big part of my life right now is my job. I am in the Navy. It's the best decision I've made thus far. I love the fact that you find a way to make things happen even when you aren't sure exactly how to start. You are expected to be your best self at all times and things move very quickly. I haven't been at this too long, but I've grown as a person due to my job and I think it will serve me well no matter where life takes me from here.
Something I read is that it is not our job to teach our kids to deal with the world, it's our job to teach them not to contribute to it. I know I greatly butchered that quote, but you get what I'm saying. It's an interesting concept and one that I have taken to heart. I think if you teach people to be and look for good, they find a way to work through the bad. If there's one thing I've learned thus far, it's that crazy things happen all the time. Staying positive makes all the difference. Message me if you want to talk.
