The gospel has definitely become the center of my life. It is my peace & keeps me focused on what really matters, which is my family, loving & serving others. I'll be honest, it has taken me a few hard lessons and years to get here, but I've always known that it was possible and that I would. I'm very blessed!
My three kiddos are the best thing I've done in my life! My son returned from serving his mission 6 months ago. It has been the greatest blessing to have the priesthood in our home. He has very recently been married and sealed to his childhood sweetheart! (Talk about relationship goals!) It was one of the happiest days of my life. I love my new daughter as if she were my own. I also have two beautiful teenage daughters, 15 and 18 years old, who keep me young and love to tease me. They are the cool girls I've always wanted to be!
I asked my kiddos to list words that best describe me. (Sorry about the length, but man do I feel loved!)
Independent, faithful, genuine, grateful, positive, hard-working, nice, loud, passionate, bold, simplistic, assertive, truthful, compassionate, empathetic, straightforward, quirky & crafty! (They often tell me I'm beautiful, but I love that it wasn't on the list.) My dad has always said that that I'm a handful & I believe him now :)
I'm a believer in learning to love yourself first. It's often the one relationship that we don't give enough time or effort to. We all have difficult past life experiences, but I don't consider it "baggage" unless it hasn't been dealt with appropriately. Unfortunately, this happens quite a bit with divorce and can be very detrimental to future relationships. Everyone has insecurities, but some are unhealthy, especially if you can't feel great about yourself in other ways. I am a very compassionate person, but if you aren't ready, I'm not interested. Been there, done that.
Speaking of relationships, I agree that physical attraction is important and often comes first. As I mentioned in my kiddos' list, it's definitely not everything. Time spent getting to truly know each other is often rushed because of physical attraction. Spiritual, emotional and mental confidence is so attractive to me. I love laughing, so a sense of humor is awesome! I don't feel "old" and I don't believe that I ever will. I'm attracted to people of the same "young" mindset. I'm a no-drama kind of girl. I won't participate in fighting and will do my best to talk things through in a committed relationship. I was raised to never say mean things in the heat of the moment that can't be taken back. I don't hold grudges & I'm forgiving, for my own heart's sake.
The people closest to me challenge me to grow as a person and I love that! I have a very diverse group of friends that I cherish as much as my family. I would not have ever called myself wild, but I do have two small tattoos....on my left ankle and right shoulder blade. I love the artistry and the stories behind other people's tattoos. I don't plan on ever getting another.
I love trees, mountains and Utah skies! I love camping, but haven't been in years. (No, that can't be a date). I also love day hikes, which can be a great date, once I've gotten to know someone pretty well. I'm very talkative and make a lot of faces. I'm not at all athletic, but I'll play for fun. I started juicing over a year ago and I feel better than ever...I love it! I do still love to eat :) I love action movies, especially with car chases!!!
Although my career of 23 years as a business manager requires quite a bit of daily structure and planning, I'm a bit less structured within my home life. I'm an ADD girl and if you're OCD, I might drive you crazy...just sayin'. I feel that home should be a haven for every member of the family. We don't always have to have plans. Sometimes the quiet nights at home are the best nights!
I am so looking forward to finding the right someone to spend my life and forever with!
