I love traveling--seeing new places, meeting new people and making new friends, studying new languages and cultures. I am almost always willing to try anything at least once. I am a pianist, and as such, I spent some time during a couple different summers studying at a conservatory in the Czech Republic (thankfully, my teachers spoke English, because I don't speak Czech!). Studying and performing in Europe was a fantastic experience, and the opportunity to take road trips to places like Budapest or Vienna or Zurich on the weekends wasn't bad, either. :) I graduated with a degree in Piano Performance from BYU and just finished my master's at University of Michigan. I am now taking a year off before pursuing my doctorate degree. I find fulfillment in teaching (which is what I am doing a lot of right now), especially when I am working with children. I am somewhat shy and gentle by nature, but performing, teaching, traveling, and living new places has helped me break out of my shell.
Aside from music, I like to draw peace from the serenity and beauty of the great outdoors. Last summer, I went camping to the upper peninsula of Michigan and did a kayak trip on Lake Superior--highly recommended! More recently, I returned from a trip to Alaska, where I rode a train along the Yukon Trail and sailed up the Tracy Arm Fjord to Sawyer's glacier. The world Heavenly Father has given us is truly an amazing, beautiful place!
More things I love: my family!; four-wheeling; writing (one of my greatest aspirations is to write a bestselling novel); cooking (and eating) yummy food, be it a tried-and-true family recipe or a concoction of my own; watching movies; driving my car with the windows down and the Beatles serenading me; walking through a forest during the height of autumn and admiring the beautiful colors with a steaming cup of hot cocoa and pumpkin spice in hand; going to football games at the Big House; drinking milk (skim is the only way to go); reading a good book; keeping on the lookout for someone whose day I might be able to make a little brighter. Life is wonderful! :) I love my Heavenly Father and strive to make gratitude and optimism a part of my daily life.
