Hi guys! Just recently moved to Massachusetts and wondering who's around. Here's me in a nutshell: In relationships, I'm pretty good at giving space, doing/getting thoughtful little things for others, and giving service, but I prefer doing things WITH those I love - work or play. I don't call names when I'm angry, I don't waste time or energy on grudges, and I want to be held if I'm crying. Hugs and other forms of showing affection touch me (punny but true).
I'm pretty easy to get along with even when I'm being stubborn, and a current temple recommend holder. I love hiking, camping, riding horses, traveling, reading (mostly fiction), and playing with kids. Don't watch much TV, do enjoy movies. I like learning new skills, listening to a variety of music - but not all the time, I appreciate quiet too. Healthy foods are preferred, however brownies and ice cream are never refused! I like to cook provided there's no rush, and enjoy eating good food but stay active enough to be fit. I like to dress up once in a while, though I am most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt. My son recently got out of the Army Reserves; my girls are in the National Guard and regular Army now.
These are some goals I've made for myself and accomplished in the last 5 years: Going to the Hawaiian Islands, catching a wave surfing, finding the LOST filming set, hiking up Diamondhead at dawn, running a half-marathon (2:35), raising a lot of money for a good cause, getting out of debt, learning real square dance (not just doe-say-doe), 3 days on the Appalachian Trail with my daughter, doing the high ropes course at YW camp, zip-lining, going to Puerto Rico with my youngest, and getting all the sisters in the ward assigned VT's. My kids have kept good relations with me as they have transitioned from teen to adult, and that's an accomplishment in my book, too! I'd still like to try parasailing, rock climbing, hang-gliding, surfing (again), learn some Latin dance, and get back into camping just for fun.
My recent callings have been RS pres, VT, and ward camp leader (my favorite). Previous callings - almost all female ward level callings (not pianist though I can pick a tune), Latina group liaison, seminary, Cub scouts. Singing in the choir is fun when we have one.
My favorite job has been home mom (had to start working about 10 years ago). My most fun paid job was lifeguarding and teaching young kids how to swim at the YMCA. Just left Walmart to be a nanny in MA for a member family. I enjoy meeting new people and speak some Spanish too.
If we are supposed to marry our best friend, I figure it's time to be making some friends to choose from! I love getting to know people anyway :)
