When it boils right down to it, I'm interested in the good life. Finding it, understanding it, living it, etc.
More particularly, I love food. Food and the culture that surrounds it embody many of the things I find most enthralling about the world we live in. I like to cook, to eat, to think about food, to go to restaurants...
I am fascinated by continental philosophy. Earlier figures such as Nietzsche, Heidegger, Levinas, and Merleau-Ponty set the stage for new ways of understanding human existence and our relations to the things we find ourselves thrown in among, a tradition continued by contemporary philosophers. I crave understanding the world in new, often more refined ways, and the enabling of a better life that brings.
I derive many of my greatest pleasures from spending time and building community with my close friends and family. Dedicated, loyal people around me give me the drive to accomplish my goals and always be engaged in the world.
I'm generally up for pretty much anything fun/educational/adventurous/spontaneous, and appreciate others who approach the world with a sense of palpable wonder. I try to perceive the world in ways that inspire that same sense of wonder in me.
Creativity, aesthetic expression, mastery, and genuine kindness toward others are some of the greatest driving forces in those that I gravitate toward, and I am tenaciously trying to align the objects, people, and activities in my life to allow me be motivated similarly.
