Who Am I?
Charming and clever. Smart and sensible. Casually considerate, constantly compassionate. Sometimes sardonic, seldom serious. Curious, but careful. Self-deprecating, but secure. Cheerfully complicated, seeking same.
What Am I Doing With My Life?
Living out my childhood dreams, apparently. I'm a concept artist in the entertainment industry, and my artwork has been published in several books, adapted or interpreted into many more collectibles and toys, a (surprisingly moving) film, a television show to be produced by Steven Spielberg (!), and enjoyed as designed by hundreds of thousands every day.
What Am I Good At?
The word on the street is that I'm good at what I do, though this is the first and last time you'll see me say so; what I tend to find most in my own work is room to grow. (But I am *really* good at finding room to grow... maybe a little too good, sometimes!)
Philosophically, I'm really good at balancing the wisdom of an old soul with the wonder of a young heart.
I'm still pretty good at old-fashioned four-by-four rollerskating. And carving downhill on a dancer-length longboard.
I'm good at the piano, and recently accepted a calling as accompanist for the Kirkland First Ward choir.
What Do I Like?
I like books that explore or explain the human condition.
I like movies about nobility and sacrifice. Sometimes with explosions.
I like irony, sarcasm, and satire, but I think sincerity is funnier.
I like cooperation more than competition.
I like music that takes me to another time and place. Rio de Janeiro in the sixties. Philadelphia in the seventies. Manchester in the eighties. Bristol in the nineties. Paris in the oughts. Space in the future?
I like French for breakfast or brunch, Vietnamese for lunch, and Japanese or Korean for dinner. I really like barbecue, Texas Hill Country style, for lunch and dinner. I love Mexican for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
What Could I Not Live Without?
A four-legged friend.
A creative time or place or means to meditate.
An appreciation of life's absurdities.
An opportunity for honest introspection.
An eye for silver linings.
Kindness, plain and simple.
What Do I Think About?
What my next challenge will be, and how to enjoy it.
Why things are the way they are.
How stuff works.
Which is better...
... contentment or fulfillment?
... joy or equanimity?
... courage or fearlessness?
... reason or intuition?
... order or chaos?
... peanut butter or chocolate?
... knowing what you want, or wanting what you have?
