Aloha! My name is Jon. I'm currently living in a SW Florida beach town. Some hobbies that keep me happy include photography, listening to music, hockey/swimming/baseball/biking, antiquing, my baby parrots and Church service.
International business with Asia, specifically China, is my professional training. I manage the purchasing and logistics for a cosmetics company and work with China and Ghana daily. My Bachelors is in History from BYU and my MBA is from the University of Hawai’i.
I have lived around the US and Asia. I grew up in Cali and WA, graduated BYU, served my mission in Thailand, did my MBA in Hawaii, worked in China for a couple years. There was also a year in Oregon and I am currently enjoying my 3rd stint in sunny Florida. I've also traveled to Nepal, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sweden, Holland, Germany, Austria, Canada, and Mexico and have all sort of great stories.
I am really into 60's bands (Dave Clark 5, Zombies, Beach Boys) and enjoy beautiful, thoughtful music from around the world as well as pop-rock oriented indie acts like Fountains of Wayne. Jake Shimabukuro and Alice and the Glass Lake are a couple of favorite current acts. My favorite concerts have been: Jimmy Eat World, Jake Shimabukuro, and the Aquabats.
My roommates a couple of Meyer's parrots, Skyrocket and Shadow Snatcher, and the recently adopted young Senegal named Opteryx. I've had birds since I was a little kid; kinda who I am at this point.
I suppose I'm on here as a way to meet knew people, the crowd in FL is pretty small. I am seeking a girl who has Christ and His Gospel at her core, as well as family. I'm attracted to those who are optimists against all odds, who enjoy the impromptu and enjoy talking about anything. A girl who has traveled some of the world may understand me best. Conversation is very important to me and long periods of silence will make me crazy.
To be honest, a few things off my radar: video games, basketball, relationship drama, and precise punctuality all the time.
I take my activity in the Church seriously wherever I am in the world. The Lord our God Liveth, Loveth, and Reigneth.
A few of my rules of life:
1) Start everyday thanking God for the day and telling oneself it is going to be an awesome day.
2) Live as if life is going to turn out for the right; live your dreams and recognize the blessings of God.
3) Believe in the potential of others, take every opportunity to share a smile, speak with optimism and compliments.(/span) Don't mix money and friends. Service is the name of the game.
5) Believe in God. Serve Him. Go to church.
