As described by my students for one of my grad school classes:
"Ms. Mason is super funny, an avid reader-ish, has a wonderful laugh. She likes sunsets, rainy afternoons with cuddling and hot chocolate and walks in the industrial riverfront in Newark; she has not been shot."
About me: I teach middle and high school science and am also currently getting a master's in neuroscience. I love grad school and really enjoy my job. Well, I usually enjoy my job - grading papers is the big, but necessary, negative.
I have lived all over the US (MO, NY, UT, GA, TX, CA, VA, and now NJ) but lived the longest in CA and would say I am from TX. I also spent an academic year living and volunteering in India.
I like to travel and, despite having lived in India, have not traveled as much as I would like. I love road trips and taking the time to stop and explore places along the way.
I enjoy being out in nature. I grew up backpacking, camping, and hiking and those are still some of my favorite activities. (In a hiatus from teaching I worked at REI and got some really great gear during that time.)
I like to workout and usually make it to the gym 6 days a week. I rowed competitively in college and cannot wait to live in a place where I can once again participate in masters rowing. I also like to try new athletic endeavors.
What else? I think being able to laugh at yourself is an important personality trait.
