Born in NE NC and raised in SE VA. Until June '12, had lived 22 of the past 26 years in N FL. So, I speak "Southern" fluently but never picked up the accent. I work from home and could literally live/work anywhere w/electricity and high speed internet. Recently relocated to UT.
People are usually surprised to learn that I'm over 50. Good genes. Most guess at least 8-10 years younger. Frankly, I'm surprised too. I often wonder, how in the heck did I get here so quickly? I don't feel or act my age (in a good way). My Dad recently turned 81 so I figure there is still lots of tread on the tires. Age is just not something I spend much time thinking about other than how it relates to finding the one with whom to share the rest of my life and then some.
WANTED: Pretty simple really...Looking for the perfect combo of a great woman, a best friend, a faithful companion. She can be Southern or Sicilian or anything in between. She and I MUST share common interests and be real about that from the start. There's nothing worse than discovering the "real" person later on. I'm seeking a real relationship and companion...someone who is as interested in me as I am in her. Again, not looking for a Jekyll and Hyde nor am I looking for someone who will do my laundry and fix all of my meals. I'm not looking for a servant.
Also, I'm looking for one who is seeking to fill a DESIRE when choosing a companion rather than one who seeking to fill a NEED. One who enjoys touching (though not clingy), who enjoys being together and engaged. If our friendship develops into something more, fantastic. There's really no rush but I won't work to stop it. I try to never say never (or always). If it happens, it happens. Ultimately, I'm looking for the one who'll occupy my first and last thoughts of every day...not obsessively but caring more for one's partner than him/herself. If that troubles you...then I'm probably not your guy.
In 26 yrs of 100% faithful marriage, the only things in common were 2 great sons and a driveway. I was done with that existence and without any emotional scars. I'll always be my sons' Dad and they'll always be among my highest of priorities...but I am now parking in a different space.
Recently awarded Father of the Year for the 24th straight yr. The voting was unanimous by 2 of the finest young men God ever created. Simply couldn't have picked them better from a catalog. Both Eagle Scouts, one a returned missionary (Philippines), married a great girl in the temple and attends BYU in Provo. His brother is currently serving Spanish-speaking mission in Los Angeles CA.
My faith is my anchor and has helped to shape who I am and who I continue to become. I think it was Elder Bednar (and perhaps others) that stated conversion never ends...it's about who you are becoming.
I'm pretty practical. I do like nice things but I don't HAVE to have them. Nice yet not extravagant. I won't be found in line every time there's a new iPhone release and I don't own an iPad...yet...although I do have a sweet Android phone (I had my old one for more than 2 years).
I spent a goodly portion of my career in "dark wood/gold letter" professional accounting settings and I know how to dress when necessary. I prefer casual over formal and I'm not crazy about wearing a jacket to dinner although I have one or two and I will if necessary. I have a great sense of humor and enjoy playful banter and laughter. I don't like profanity...the English language has too many great words that aren't so repulsive. I try to use words that I wouldn't mind my sons (or your child(ren), if applicable) hear fall from my lips.
I've served in various capacities in the church throughout the past 27 years...but my favorite calling to date was that of Young Mens' President. I still enjoy relationships with many of "my" young men after many years having passed since serving them. It's a joy to watch them grow, serve and return with honor from missions, marry in the temple and raise families of their own...and the most fun...watching them serve as YM Presidents!!! I warned them...what they dished out to me would return to them 10 fold...LOL.
