I grew up in Virginia and went to BYU for my undergraduate degree. The mormon culture of Utah was very foreign to me as I never even had a close mormon friend until I went to BYU. I loved my time in the bubble but I definitely missed the diversity of the east coast. After graduation I decided to pursue my passion for working in mental health so I returned home to Virginia to attend graduate school. School is finally a thing of the past and I'm currently living and working in Alexandria, Virginia.
I am working as a clinical social worker at a psychiatric hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. It's safe to say that there is never a dull moment and I've had plenty of interesting experiences there. It is extremely hard work but I feel honored to be a part of the therapeutic process for many who find themselves at the end of their rope. It is refreshing to witness the resilience and strength of the human spirit. I also have the opportunity to facilitate a daily therapy group for adolescent patients who always end up teaching me far more than I could ever teach them.
My number one passion has always been music and I try to go to as many concerts and broadway shows as I can. I'd love to find someone who shares that same passion for music as I'd pretty much always rather be at a concert than whatever I am doing at any given moment.
I love spending time with family and friends. Being an aunt is probably one of my favorite things in the world and I can't wait to have a family of my own someday. I am very blessed right now to be living so close to my family.
I love to travel. It's not easy to do on a social worker's salary but I do hope to visit as many countries as I possibly can during my lifetime.
I have a lot to be grateful for in my life but I am definitely missing someone to share it with. I'm hoping this venture into the online world will prove worthwhile!
