I will be your knight in shining khaki. I will cook for you (gourmet cereal), clean for you (cereal bowl into dishwasher), sing songs for you (about elephants and monsters and pirates), send you unexpected love notes ("can u get milk on ur way home?"), have meaningful conversations with you ("Didn't you get my message about the milk?"), and share romantic journeys with you (back to the store for milk). Of course, I'm being somewhat facetious, but really, when you're with the right person, there can be great joy and fun and love even in the mundane. We may forever cherish the memory of that milk run.
I am a children's music entertainer. I get to travel a lot around the country and sing songs about elephants and monsters and pirates. I've been doing this full-time for 9 years now and it sure beats my last job. You've seen The Office? That was my last job, in essence.
I'm here because my dear wife of 13 years passed away in June after a long illness. We met on an LDS singles site back in 1999, when that was still a novelty. ("No way!!") Now, of course, that's commonplace. ("Yeah, my brother met his wife online, and I met my plumber on Angie's List.") So the good news is, I know this can work. You can indeed find the person of your dreams online, and maybe even the plumber of your dreams!
I have had the tremendous blessing of a temple marriage with an abundance of love, respect and shared creativity. Sure, we also clashed and argued and had serious difficulties at times, but we worked through things and persevered through our love and commitment to each other and through our faith. I'm looking for someone who is passionate and creative, who marches to the beat of her own drummer, who I can share that kind of commitment and love with again.
I joined the Church at age 20, from missionaries knocking on my door. That was a huge change from my previous life, but the Church was everything I had been looking for (and much more). I wasn't able to go on a mission then, and became inactive for a few years after the first, but I have been a faithful and active member for the past 17 years. I have a deep, personal testimony of our faith and of the Restoration, and of the atonement of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I like to study our religion, history and theology, including podcasts and articles of an apologetic and scholarly nature. My favorite scripture is Alma, chapter 36 (the whole chapter). Alma the younger's conversion story is mine, as well.
I have two amazing girls (8 and 10). Picture Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Shirley Temple, Tina Fey, Sarah Palin (if you lean right), Hillary Clinton (if you lean left), and J.K. Rowling (if you lean over a keyboard to type stories), and you'll have something that approximates them. Funny, sweet, intelligent, geeky, beautiful, artistic, playful, creative, crafty, kind and loving... That's my girls.
What do I like to do?
I like to have conversations of all kinds, and to be challenged with new and intriguing ideas.
I enjoy exercising and playing tennis, volleyball and softball. I'm not really a SPORTS FAN, but I like watching hockey, baseball, football and the Olympics. However, I demonstrate my exception to the rule of being a Mormon male by having almost no interest in basketball or college football. I really enjoy playing modern strategy board/card games like Catan, Dominion and Pandemic, as well as iOS and Wii games and logic puzzles.
Favorite media includes things like Life is Beautiful, Dickens, The Beatles, Inception, Pixar, Downton Abbey, Chuck, Sherlock, Monty Python, Kate Bush, The Princess Bride, LOTR, Michael Crichton, Weird Al, Shawshank Redemption, Battlestar Galactica, Motown, Star Wars/Trek, Big Bang Theory, Watership Down, and many musicals and classical works.
I like to love on our pets (dog, cat, rats and chickens) and animals in general. I love nature, and looking at the stars to wonder at the glory of creation and life. I like going to interesting places like museums and parks and historical sites and the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota.
And whatever you like to do, I'll like to do, or at least, I'll show and share some genuine interest and support. I should mention, though, that I'm unlikely to participate with treacherous activities, so if you're all about bungee jumping and rock climbing and stuff like that, I'd have to cheer you on from the side. Hey, you need someone to take pictures, right? And when you get to the top, or bottom, or whatever the goal is, I will applaud loudly from the safety of the level ground.
