I will be your knight in shining khaki. I will cook for you (gourmet cereal), clean for you (cereal bowl into dishwasher), sing songs for you (about elephants and monsters and pirates), send you unexpected love notes ("can u get milk on ur way home?"), have meaningful conversations with you ("Didn't you get my message about the milk?"), and share romantic journeys with you (back to the store for milk). Of course, I'm being somewhat facetious, but really, when you're with the right person, there can be great joy and fun and love even in the mundane. We may forever cherish the memory of that milk run.
I perform and compose a variety of music, but my main gig is as a kids/family music entertainer (see “Eric Herman” on Google or YouTube). I travel a lot around the country and sing songs about elephants and monsters and pirates. I've been doing that full-time for 10 years now and it sure beats my last job. You've seen The Office? That was my last job, in essence.
I'm here because my dear wife of 13 years died in June of 2013 after a long illness. We met on an LDS singles site back in 1999, when that was still a novelty. ("No way!!") Now, of course, that's commonplace. ("Yeah, my brother met his wife online, and I met my plumber on Angie's List.") So the good news is, I know this can work. You can indeed find the person of your dreams online, and maybe even the plumber of your dreams!(br /)
I've had the great blessing of a temple marriage with an abundance of love, respect and shared creativity. Sure, we had difficulties, but we worked through things and persevered through our love and commitment to each other and through our faith. I'm looking for someone who is passionate and unique, who I can share that kind of commitment and love with again.
I have two amazing girls (10 and 12). Picture Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Shirley Temple, Tina Fey, Zooey Deschanel, Sarah Palin (if you lean right), Hillary Clinton (if you lean left), and J.K. Rowling (if you lean over a keyboard to type stories), and you'll have something that approximates them. Funny, sweet, intelligent, geeky, beautiful, artistic, musical, playful, creative, crafty, kind and loving... That's my girls.
I joined the Church at age 20, from missionaries knocking on my door. I had an amorphous Christian faith prior to that, and becoming LDS was a big change from my previous life, but the Gospel was everything I had been looking for (and much more). I wasn't able to go on a mission then, and became inactive for a few years after the first, but I have been a faithful and active member for the past 18 years. I have a deep, personal testimony of our faith and of the Restoration, and of the atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
I am 100% with the Gospel and our *actual* doctrine, but I'm not necessarily in lock-step with our "cultural doctrine” and interpret some things differently or more figuratively than others might. For example, I not only accept evolution as true, but believe that our particular faith is uniquely suited to embrace it as revealed truth and further light and knowledge.
What do I like to do?
I like to have conversations of all kinds, deep and silly and everything in between.
I belong to a gym (and actually go there regularly!) and enjoy exercising and playing tennis, volleyball and softball, and skiing. I'm not a huuuuge sports fan, but I like watching hockey, baseball, football and the Olympics. I love modern strategy board/card games like Catan, Dominion and Pandemic, and party games.
Favorite media includes things like Life is Beautiful, Dickens, Beatles, Inception, Pixar, Downton Abbey, Chuck, Sherlock, Python, Kate Bush, Princess Bride, LOTR, Crichton, Weird Al, Shawshank, BSG, Motown, Star Wars/Trek, Big Bang Theory, Watership Down, and many musicals and classical works.
I like to love on our pets (dog, cat and chickens) and animals in general. I love nature and science, and enjoy visiting interesting places like museums and parks and historical sites and the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota.
I like to study our religion, history and theology, including podcasts and articles of an apologetic and scholarly nature. My favorite scripture is Alma, chapter 36 (the whole chapter).
And whatever you like to do, I'll like to do, or at least, I'll show and share some genuine interest and support. I'm unlikely to participate with treacherous activities, though, so if you're all about bungee jumping and rock climbing and shark wrestling and stuff like that, I'd have to cheer you on from the side. Hey, you need someone to take pictures, right? And when you get to the top, or bottom, or whatever the goal is, I will applaud loudly from the safety of the level ground.
