First of all, let me say that not all of us who live in Las Vegas are heathens. Some of us don't have any addictions and actually have passable table manners. (lol!) I am originally from California (born and raised) before moving here in December 2007 for a job transfer. I am a regional manager, covering all of Nevada and Utah, for a national company. We manufacture and build commercial grade shade structures for schools, parks, etc., and I am very fortunate to enjoy what I do for a living.
I have three terrific kids who are all grown and out of the house. They are all living happy, healthy, productive lives, with good morals, values and ethics. What more could a parent ask for?!
To know me is to know that I am extremely patriotic. The 4th of July is my absolute favorite holiday. (God Bless America brings a tear to my eye any time of the year I hear it.) Even with all its faults and trials, this is, without a doubt, the best country in the World. (Hey, you don't see people killing themselves to get into France, do you?)
I have been a member of the Church all my life. Live it, love it. I have held MANY leadership and teaching positions, starting with Sunbeam Class President. LOL! I've taught all kinds of youth and adult classes, and have been in many priesthood quorum presidencies. Taught seminary for awhile. I have been on many Activity Committees, both "officially and non-officially" (a term I am sure many of you are familiar with). Been in countless road shows and productions. Have participated in too many service projects to remember (except for all the good feelings you carry afterwards). Over my lifetime I have probably set up and taken down several million folding chairs for one thing or another. (But still have all my fingers to show for it!) I served a mission in Japan back in the day when Honda was primarily known for just making motorcycles. (Has it really been THAT long???!!!) President Monson has been my favorite Church leader since the 70's when my grandmother finally joined the church after hearing a talk he gave on TV at a General Conference. Lastly, I am really looking forward to the day when I can enjoy the simple pleasure of having that special someone sitting next to me in church meetings again. (And maybe help serve my 100 millionth scoop of ice cream at a Ward function.)
As for fun, I play tennis, tennis, and more tennis. I grew up playing a lot of sports (skiing, football, wrestling, softball, soccer, rugby, etc.) However, these days I pretty much limit it to tennis, skiing and golf. And horseback riding, when I can find one. (Have shovel, will muck for a ride.) I like movies, especially the classic comedies (Pink Panther, Mel Brooks, Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, etc.), and most John Wayne flicks. (He is still the man.) Is it just me, or is it really that hard to find anything good in theaters these days? (Too many CGI's and not enough plot development.) Speaking of theaters, I do like a good Broadway-type musical. Again the classics are my favorite (South Pacific, The Music Man, Camelot, A Chorus Line, etc.) Although, one of my contemporary favs is Les Miserables. Ooooo, that is powerful. I really don't mind doing housework. I have skills in laundering, dish (and car) washing and vacuuming, etc. (Especially etc...) Like most guys I do enjoy food. Yes, now and again, I like a cheeseburger. (Okay, AND FRIES!). And, I will practically crawl on broken glass for homemade cupcakes made with white cake and chocolate frosting. However, I do exercise, eat my veggies and take my daily vitamins. It IS all about balance...
