I've been teaching early morning seminary for a while. Between the time I spent in seminary and the time spent teaching, about 12 years. Seminary truly is the best kept secret in the church. Sufficit to say, I spend a lot of time with teenagers. I also have a pretty impressive assortment of gospel teaching props - including trumpets, a walking staff, and of course a liahona.
My other 'happy place' is food. Cooking is a participatory, multi-person sport. I love anything to do with food, from planning, shopping, mise-en-place, cooking but is definitely best with someone else.
Some of my greatest 'kitchen moments' have been with my nieces or with friends. With my nieces we often make a smoothie base and add just about anything edible to the blender to create some pretty creative concoctions. With friends, we've tried everything from the best toppings for an oreo to a blind-folded smell and taste test of spices.
For work, my background is human service and I hold an MSW. I'm a coordinator and a planner at heart, coordinating education-related projects for key stakeholders in the area of episodic disability and employment. I'm also 'contemplating' going back to school to complete a PhD - still thinking about that one.
The church is true! We have a living Redeemer who is a part of my life each day.
I love studying the gospel reading the scriptures and other good books. I also enjoy watching Sperry Symposia when I get the chance.
The temple is my favorite place on earth :)
I also have some other special loves in my life, including:
-80s TV shows, movies and music
-travelling to gitchy tourist sites, including Hell, MI. (For some inexplicable reason, I had trouble with the border guard when I told him where we were going.)
-travelling in general - I had the opportunity to visit Italy last year for the first time and fell in love with Florence.
-anything virtuous, lovely, of good report or praiseworthy
I am also a novice runner who just completed her first half marathon.
