Thank you for your interest! I am an active, healthy, kind, humorous, sometimes light-hearted, sometimes philosophical, and adventurous man looking forward to beginning a new, happier phase of life. Though born and raised in Utah, I currently teach and conduct research at a major university based in Pennsylvania. Prior to that I worked in a variety of business and technology consulting positions, which involved extensive travel. I earned two degrees at BYU and another advanced degree at a major university in the eastern United States.
I have one delightful daughter who recently married, and a fifteen year old son who lives at home with me. We have always been a great little team and remain close.
I am extremely active in sports, including racquetball, tennis, soccer, basketball, football, volleyball, and skiing. Spending time outdoors close to nature is food for my soul. My hobbies and interests (past and present) are quite varied, including acoustic guitar, painting, falconry, dual-sport motorcycles, eating out (though I'm also an excellent cook), handcrafting rustic furniture, writing, hiking, camping, and travel.
I prefer people who are authentic, fun, intellectually curious, passionate, and have experience facing and overcoming challenges. I relish open and honest communication, wholesome fun, laughter, watching the sun set, sitting by the fire, and gazing at the stars in the night sky. I believe that emotional and spiritual intimacy, passion, and romance go hand in hand, and are essential to a successful courtship as well as to the long-term health of a committed, loving marriage relationship.
I am a devoted member of the church and always will be. My testimony of Jesus Christ, and his guiding light, is firm and enduring. I hold the gospel dear to my heart, and try to live it conscientiously, and with passion, every day. I serve faithfully in the church, and in other capacities, and will continue to do so throughout my life, as that is the Savior's pattern. I am currently serving as a scout leader, which involves teaching and mentoring a wonderful group of eleven-year-old boys.
It is a wonderful blessing to have another opportunity to find a faithful companion to love and share life with. The future looks bright. I clearly understand that there will be challenges and complexities involved in building a lasting relationship at this stage of life, however, I am also willing to think out-of-the-box about how to make things work, which, for example, may include exploring the possibility of relocating.
If you have any questions about what kind of man, husband, father, church member, or friend that I am, or can be, I will be happy to let you speak directly to either one of my two delightful children, my best friends, or any number of current and former bishops. I also highly recommend getting to know me personally. :-)
