I've been told that I'm witty and a smart and not just by my mother so I guess I'll sell that on here. My 7 year old says I know everything. My 12 year old says I'm funny. And my 16 year old will still say he loves me when I drop him off at school... That's got to count for something!
Relationships are the most important thing to me. As a friend, as a mother, as a daughter, or as a sister, I give it my all. I love to have fun, laugh at a good joke, be outside, and surrounded by good friends. I love my Heavenly Father and the Atonement provided by His son Jesus Christ. That relationship is key in my life. I strive to learn and grow and gain experience. The people we meet and associate with can teach us and offer us countless ways to learn, serve, and grow, it's up to us to look for those opportunities.
I have 3 kids. 16 (boy) 12 (boy), 7 (girl). They keep me busy! I was a stay at home mom but now I get to use my teaching degree. I teach intensive needs special ed at an alternative high school for kids with emotional, behavioral, and physical disabilities. I love my job and am ever grateful for the blessings of my own kids.
I love to cross country ski, read, travel, backpack, and the mountains. Which is part of why I'm in Alaska now. I love the water but not to swim. I enjoy deep conversation and need that in a relationship.
I have lived in Alaska for 5 years now, but grew up in New York, and lived in Utah for 10 years and a couple of years in Wilmington DE, and a summer in Texas (it was HOT!). Each region has its own unique beauty and challenges for living there, and each is my "favorite" for something different. I miss being close to family and make a point to visit as often as I can. I also have a huge extended family and love going to family reunions in Utah and Washington.
My kids and I laugh at jokes on ifunny and YouTube. We love to make pizza and have movie night slumber parties on the air mattress at home. We read a lot together: all of Fablehaven, the Percy Jackson series and of course Harry Potter, though my daughter was too little to remember most of those, we'll have to read them again!
I love to learn and try new things. I love to hear other people's stories and experiences. I like to travel and see new places. I have been to almost all 50 states but still haven't done any overseas traveling... That's on my bucket list! Some of my favorite places I've been include New York City and Denali National Park. Those two places couldn't be more different!! I also love the rolling prairies of the mid west and the beaches of Southern California. I spent a week this summer (2013) on the coast of maine with my brother and had the best time with my kids and my family. I'm pretty happy anywhere, but love the mountains and trees the best. As adventurous as all this sounds I really enjoy being home and rely on that being a peaceful refuge with those I love most to recharge.
I like finding new restaurants and think being a food critic would be an awesome job! But if they serve Diet Pepsi they'll have an edge! Donuts are my weakness and so are salt 'n vinegar potato chips. Thai food might be my favorite if I really had to choose. And I love sushi.
Anyway, like all of us on here, this is sort of unchartered waters. I am new to this and in no hurry to rush anything but plan to enjoy meeting any new friends along the way.
