Hi! My name is Heidi. I love to smile, laugh, and have fun (doesn’t everyone?) and enjoy teasing and being teased. I am a little shy at first, but have been told that I have a great sense of humor once you get to know me.
I enjoy photography, reading, writing, and spending time with family and friends. I love the outdoors: fishing, hiking, horseback riding (been bucked off a time or two--stories later), camping, etc.--basically anything outdoors except for ice skating and skiing--being an Arizona desert rat, I have never quite figured out the draw of these two activities...although I am open to learning. I love to learn new things and am always interested in what others have learned and can teach me.
I enjoy travelling and sightseeing--I have travelled through Western Europe, Canada, Mexico, United States)--would love to see Australia and Ireland as well as return to some of the places I have already been. Since having kids and going back to work full time, I haven’t had much time to travel, but when I get the opportunity to do so, I enjoy it.
I love to sing and listen to various types of music. I have been known to roll all the windows down in the car, crank the music up and sing at the top of my lungs…I like to dance but don’t do much of that in public (in the kitchen is an entirely different matter!).
The gospel is the most important thing in my life (I love it and live it!) I enjoy my current calling: teaching the 14-15 year old Sunday school class (and have loved my previous callings of full time missionary, early morning seminary teacher, primary teacher/chorister, and gospel doctrine teacher). I would rather teach a lesson or sing than speak in church…that is terrifying to me!
I love living only 5 minutes from the temple and attend weekly. I love the temple and love being there and being of service to others and especially love attending the temple when I learn something new. I hope to be able to continue to attend as regularly with a spouse. I think that serving together in the temple is one of the best ways to keep a marriage strong.
Family is also extremely important and I love spending time style="font-weight:bold;")with them—however, there is always room for more family (if you have children: that’s a bonus as far as I am concerned!).
I have 3 brothers, 2 nieces and 4 nephews who I love dearly and I enjoy spending time with all of them. I also have two VERY active, fun loving, loveable, intelligent, curious and sensitive (to the Spirit) little boys (ages 3 and 4). There are no words to describe how much I love these two little men!
Some of my favorite at-home activities include Friday night movies or game nights (with snacks, of course), snuggling, wrestling, playing with blocks, piggy back rides, tickle fights that turn into pillow fights, dancing and singing to music, bed-time e="font-weight:bold;")stories, reading scriptures, family home evenings and just spending time together. I also love getting ice cream cones and driving up to the temple to eat them!
And of course, I love the types of activities that involve a spouse—one on one time, Friday night date night, snuggling together, doing mundane/every day tasks with each other because they are more fun that way, leaving love notes in places where the other one will find them, studying the scriptures together, and anything that is more fun or enjoyable with your best friend!
Please don’t think that because I have children, which of course changes things a little bit, that I am boring--I still have an adventurous streak and enjoy trying new things. I would love to go parasailing or hang gliding. I also would like to get my pilots license one day (I took ground school in high school but couldn't test because I wasn't old enough yet).
I taught high school history and literature for several years and then was faculty for a major university for several years and I enjoyed it. Now I work for the criminal court (span style="font-weight:bold;")system, but don’t let that scare you! I have a minor in theater and enjoy participating in community and ward/stake productions.
I enjoy politics and am politically active. I love this great country and Constitution. I believe it was divinely inspired, as the Lord stated in Doctrine and Covenants and love President Benson because he was so bold in defending the Constitution. I enjoy reading and try to read 2-3 books per week.
I am sorry to have gone on and on for so long. However, if you are still reading and if it sounds like we have something in common, don't be afraid to say hi!
