I joined LDSSO in December 2009 and made a few friends and even went on a handful of dates. It was enough to make me renew my membership several times. By October 2010, I was on the verge of letting my subscription lapse, but decided to renew for only one more month. Less than two weeks later, Ashley decided to create a profile and I was one of the first guys she sent a message to. I could tell from her profile that we had quite a few things in common. I wrote her back and when she responded later that day, I knew I'd found someone special. She was at school at BYU-Idaho and I was attending BYU-Provo, so we relied mostly on e-mails, phone calls, and video chats until she came to visit me a month after that first message. Our first date was to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square. Our second date the following night was to her friend's wedding reception. By the time she left on Sunday night, we had already seriously discussed the possibility of getting married. We've continued to visit each other every weekend since then and talk on the phone or video chat every night. Now, only two months since Ashley first contacted me, we've set a date to be sealed this spring in the Portland Temple. We are both extremely happy that we've found each other. I know a lot of people who have met their spouse through LDSSingles and am pleasantly surprised to count myself among them.
On a whim I decided to sign up for LDSSingles, not really expecting anything to come of it. However, the first day I came upon Matt's profile and sent him a quick message telling him I would love to get to know him better. Thus began the novel-length emails and continued on to long phone conversations and video chats. We decided to meet and the rest is history. We are getting married in the Portland Oregon Temple on April 30, 2011 and couldn't be more thrilled or happy!
