Doug and I met via LDS Singles on 3rd September 2000. I lived in Auckland
New Zealand and he in Toronto Canada. That's 14,000 miles and 26 hours
flying time away from each other - a long distance and time in anyone's
book. I'm Maori Polynesian and he's Scot Caucasian. I have a huge extended
family and he has a small very nuclear one. But we had two things in
common - birth dates in 1956 and testimonies of the restored gospel.
Augmented by the miracles of modern technology which allowed us to write and
speak to each other daily for almost two years, we gained testimonies of
each other and came to know we would be married.
Doug arrived in New Zealand in June 2002 and we were married a month later
on July 16th. As I write we have been wed for almost 2 years and every day
I give thanks for our membership in and testimonies of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. Without these two critical prerequisites we
could never have met nor have known what all our friends and families now
accept to be amply true - that we were meant to be husband and wife.
Love has many meanings and applications but, if it is a true love, it can
have only one source. Thank you Father.
